Remote School Attendance Strategy

The Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS) Team are Yarrabah locals, here to support families and the community engage positively in their child's education with a strong focus on school attendance.  

The  RSAS program has been operating for 2 years at Yarrabah State School. Auspice by Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services and an initiative through the Yarrabah Leaders Forum, the program addresses the low school attendance rate at Yarrabah State School through the implementation of local strategies.

Education is a determinant of everyone's health and wellbeing and we aim to improve on Yarrabah’s health outcome through enabling access to school through our engagement strategies, provide health and wellbeing service support and provide a better transition program that will sustain our student’s ability to attend and remain at school. 

KEY ACTIVITIES OF THE PROGRAM IN YARRABAH – Transport, Transition Hub, Health and Wellbeing support, Lunch support, Community Engagement Activities, Rewards and Recognition, In-class support, Communication & Research, Girls and Boys program, Cultural camps & Excursions, Culture and Language projects, Day 8 Back to School Campaign includingEnrolment strategy.

The Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS) is a community-focused strategy that employs local people to bring together families, schools, communities and other services to design and deliver local solutions to improve school attendance and engagement.
